Synching Carbs at Mijo Motors

Synching Carbs seems like a daunting task, but if done right the difference will be night and day.

First lets go into what 'Syncing' means.  When you have multiple carburetors feeding different cylinders it is very important that they work in hamorny, Think of a rowing team, If you have even one rower out of sync it has a huge effect of the performance of the boat. same for the cylinders in your bike. if youre feeding more gas and air  into a few carbs and less into others, youre gonna have a bad time.  troublesome idle, lack of power off the line and difficult starting are just a few of the problems out of sync carbs can cause.

To really get them running together you need first start with clean and properly adjusted carbs.  Next step is to attach your synchronizer. You can buy one from Motion pro or a few different kinds from Dime City Cycles, for those who are feeling handy there are ways to build one yourself!

1.)Start by removing the flat head screws on the     outlets of each carb and installing your               threaded tubes.

2.) connect the tubes to whatever device you've chosen to help you on your journey to excellence.

If you have the Synchronizer from Emgo, make sure to open your dampeners all the way in order to tune it later

3.)Start the engine and look at your readings. Back the damper out until the needle just barely pulses.

4.)remove the top of the carb and begin with carb #1.  carb #2 is non adjustable, this is to give you a base reading to start with. loosen the lock nut on the adjusting screw until you are just able to turn it.  when you start adjusting you will notice that with every turn it effects all other carbs.  that is why it is important to take your time and follow these steps.

once #1 has matched the #2 carb you can move on the next set.   Sync #1 to #2, then #3 to #4, then go back and re-adjust #1, then #3 and #4, then the set together. its a time consuming process but this is a MAJOR player in how well your bike will run.

Now rev it up enough that you can enjoy the sound but not so much that your neighbor calls the cops again.
